"The earl suffered insomnia, a condition that plagued him since childhood. The doctor told him that a special blend of herbal tea might do him some good. As the earl raised the cup to his lips, he thought he could see his own madness reflected in the water."
The young earl enjoyed spending rainy afternoons in the vast gardens of the castle. He especially liked the way the red roses looked like bright cherries against the grey skies, and the delicate way the drops of rain fell and clung in small pebbles on their velvet petals. Lately, the earl hasn't been feeling too well, a condition that his mother blames from his afternoon strolls in the garden. They've dismissed the conspicuous wound on the earl's neck as nothing more than a scratch from a vagrant thorn, and to an angel that looked down upon the earth from heaven, his blood might have looked like specks of fallen rose petals against his greying skin.
S.Jin graduated with a BFA in Digital Media from Otis College of Art and Design.|
Entangled in a love affair with the Strange and the Macabre from an early age, S.Jin’s illustrations provide a window to hazy daydreams of a dark, yet romantic quality. She seeks to break past the hard emotions that we wear on the outside of our everyday lives in order to capture moments of solitude when we are vulnerable to our most personal feelings. Behind the rose colored curtain is a beautiful blue world tinged with deep shadows which is waiting to be unveiled.
